Halloween Highlights

Just a few memorable moments from Halloween at the Manning house..

1. Holden's first trick or treating experience at his Grandpa's office, complete with lots of candy, lots of strangers, and only getting mistaken for a girl twice!

2. Annual Halloween party with friends, complete with way too many doughnuts eaten off of the floor during the "doughnut game," tons of Halloween Bingo fun, and a solo by Art Garfunkel (who is pictured below).

3. Dressing up in our Info-mercial costumes, complete with the Shamwow guy, the most comfortable costume ever in form of a Snuggie, and me channeling my 1999 self by curling my hair under a la girl on the Snuggie box (which despite my efforts didn't look anything like the girl on the Snuggie box. I blame my lack of swoopy bangs).

4. Traditional Papa Murphy's Jack O' Lantern pizza, complete with traditional Jack O' Lantern goiter.

Hope everyone's holiday was unBOOlievable!

Baby Fever

Today I went to the zoo.
I hung out with this baby...She weighs about 375 pounds.
This baby...He is seven feet tall.

And THIS baby!
He is 31 inches (85th percentile) &
23 pounds 11 ounces (60th percentile)

The baby in the last picture earned his trip to the zoo by going to the doctor. He screamed at 1 doctor, kicked 1 nurse, and got 4 shots and a lollipop.

Holden's Monster Mash Birthday Bash!

Holden turned ONE on Thursday. To distract myself from the fact that he is getting old, thus, I am too, (Should I have used a semicolon somewhere in there? Please advise), we decided to celebrate with an all out rager of a party. Then I remembered that a) Holden is not such a fan of strangers lately (and by strangers I mean everyone except me, Reo and my mom) and b) I live in an itty bitty condo. So we scaled back to inviting just family, which still kind of had our condo busting at the seams. Given my lack of domestic skills, I am not much of a hostess, but I think it turned out well. And if not? I have a couple more years of practice before Holden actually remembers his party, so no biggie![Some of our guests]
The highlight of the party was supposed to be Holden digging into his birthday cake. Reo was diligent in making sure no one gave any sugar to Holden for his whole first year, so he was sure Holden would tear into the cake like a maniac. Unfortunately for Reo, that was not the case. Holden stared at the cake, licked some frosting off of his finger, and then threw most of it over the side of his highchair. The whole thing was really anticlimactic, actually... He didn't even need a bath after. Not a fan of chocolate, perhaps?
And, because I like to see pictures of food, here is the food/decor. And if you think I made the decorations, you either don't know me very well, or are much too kind. I purchased them from the ever droolworthy website that ALMOST makes it okay that I am not crafty, Etsy. P.S. Holden wore that hat for approximately .5 seconds. It made a cute decoration though!

Family "Stay-Cay" (I'm Hip To The Lingo)

Hello Again! It's Holden, here to tell you about my rockin' Wing Family mini-vacation. We spent the weekend in Park City, courtesy of my grandma and grandpa!
Wasn't it pretty??
We did lots of fun things over the weekend. Here I am hanging out in "baby jail," (aka, my playpen) reading my book. I like to play in baby jail, but I discovered that I don't so much like to sleep there. I would much rather sleep in mom and dad's bed. Preferably sideways so I can kick mom in the ribs all night.
Have I told you that people in my family think I am pretty cute? Because they do. And because I am the ONLY grandchild, and was the only person under 16 in attendance, I kind of got a lot of attention. Which I loved. Here are my Uncle Andy and Uncle Dan giving me some attention...
Since I am so cute, my grandma decided to spoil me at the Carter's and Baby Gap outlets. Seriously. S-P-O-I-L-E-D.
I'm told that people had fun after I went to sleep as well. Mostly in the form of an awesome game of BINGO and copious amounts of Beatles Rock Band. And there was food. Lots and lots of food.

And, to celebrate a super fun weekend, I only cried about half of the way home. You are welcome, mom and dad.

Love, Holden
